House System

The House system is an important part of life at Crown House, helping to build community, foster teamwork and encourage pupils to support and celebrate one another across all year groups. Upon entry to the school, each pupil joins one of our three Houses, with siblings placed in the same House.

Led by Year 6 House Captains, Year 5 Vice Captains and staff Heads of House, pupils take part in a wide variety of events and competitions throughout the year, including singing, poetry, art, entrepreneurial, charity and sporting activities. House points are awarded for effort, achievement and for living out the Crown House values of Prepare, Persevere, Perform. Weekly totals are shared and celebrated in whole-school assemblies.

Our Houses

  • Equinox – From the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), the Equinox marks the moment in the year when day and night are in balance.
  • Solstice – Derived from the Latin solstitium (sun standing still), the Solstice represents turning points in the year – the longest and shortest days.
  • Zenith – From the Arabic samt (path overhead), the Zenith is the highest point in the sky reached by the sun.

Together, Equinox, Solstice and Zenith reflect balance, growth and aspiration – qualities that lie at the heart of a Crown House education. Just as the cycles of the sun shape the rhythm of our world, our Houses shape the rhythm of school life, encouraging pupils to challenge themselves, support one another and shine brightly in all they do.
