Choosing the right school for your child is an enormously important decision. You want somewhere they will be truly known; where they will be challenged and supported, grow in confidence and be surrounded by people who genuinely care about helping them succeed.
We are a proudly non-selective independent preparatory school for children from Pre-school to Year 6 and we are academically ambitious for every pupil. Excellent teaching, high expectations and strong foundations in learning lead to impressive academic outcomes. Yet, most importantly, we focus on the individual progress of every child – understanding their starting point and providing the right support and challenge to help them achieve their very best.
One of the things I am most proud of is the team that makes this possible. Our teachers know our children exceptionally well. They communicate, share what they notice and work together around each pupil, ensuring that learning, wellbeing and personal development are all part of the same picture. We know our children, we believe in them and we are determined to help them succeed.
That ambition extends across the whole Crown House experience. Our pupils are encouraged to think deeply, embrace challenge and take pride in their achievements. They perform, create, compete, collaborate, lead and explore. Through our broad curriculum, specialist teaching, Crown House Tapestry and opportunities beyond the classroom, children develop knowledge alongside the creativity, communication, resilience and adaptability they will need for the future.
We care deeply about how children experience school. Strong relationships, excellent pupil care and high expectations create an environment in which children feel safe, valued and ready to learn. We encourage them to persevere when things are difficult and take increasing responsibility for themselves and others.
Our Crown House Learning Behaviours describe pupils who are Resilient, Reflective, Creative, Kind and Tolerant. Above these sit the three values that guide our school: Prepare, Persevere, Perform. Together, they reflect our ambition for children to achieve highly, understand themselves as learners and approach what comes next with confidence.
Families are a vital part of this journey and we truly value open, trusting relationships with parents and carers and a genuine partnership centred on what is best for each child. Our pupils, too, are listened to and encouraged to contribute, lead and play an active part in the life of their school.
