Parents and Carers as Partners for Learning

At Crown House, we believe that children thrive when home and school work together. Parents and carers know their children best and the strong relationships we build with families are an important part of helping every child to feel happy, make progress and achieve their potential.

We value open communication, mutual trust and a shared commitment to every child’s success. We want parents to understand what their children are learning, celebrate their achievements and feel able to contribute to school life.

We build this partnership in a variety of ways:

• Regular Communication – teachers are happy to communicate with parents about all aspects of their child’s school life through informal conversations and email contact. We aim to respond to parent emails within one working day during term time.
• Parents’ Meetings – formal consultations take place during the Autumn and Spring terms, providing opportunities to discuss each child’s learning, progress and development. Meetings can also be arranged at other times when needed.
• Curriculum Information – parents receive information about the learning planned for their child’s year group, helping families to understand and support learning at home.
• Weekly Newsletters – our weekly newsletter celebrates achievements and shares learning, school news, forthcoming events and important reminders.
• Website and Social Media – regular news and updates provide a window into everyday life and learning at Crown House.
• Reading and Homework – age-appropriate reading and homework provide opportunities for families to engage with and support children’s learning beyond the classroom.
• Assemblies, Performances and Celebrations – parents are regularly welcomed into school to share in children’s achievements, including assemblies, productions, performance platforms and other special events.
• Sharing Skills and Experiences – we warmly welcome opportunities for parents and carers to contribute their own knowledge, cultures, careers, experiences and skills to enrich children’s learning.
• Parent Voice – each year group is supported by Parent Representatives who meet with the Headteacher each term to share feedback, discuss school development and explore new ideas. This ensures that the views and experiences of our families continue to help shape Crown House.

We welcome dialogue with our families and recognise that successful partnerships work both ways. By sharing information, celebrating successes and addressing questions or concerns openly, we can work together to provide the very best experience for every child.
