The School Day, Clubs and Wrap Around Care

At Crown House, we recognise that family life does not always fit neatly within the school day. Our wraparound care, co-curricular clubs and holiday provision give families flexibility while providing children with a safe, familiar and enjoyable environment beyond their lessons.

The School Day

The school gates open at 8.25am, with children welcomed into school ready for registration. Registers close at 8.40am.

Dismissal times are:

• Pre-School – 3.30pm
• Reception and Pre-Prep (Years 1 & 2) – 3.30pm
• Prep (Years 3–6) – 3.45pm

Younger siblings are always cared for until the eldest child’s collection time.

Many children extend their day through our wraparound provision, which is available from 7.45am until 5.30pm.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club is available to pupils from 7.45am each morning, providing a relaxed and welcoming start to the school day. Children can enjoy a light breakfast of toast, cereals and fruit alongside quiet activities and time with friends before joining their classes for the start of the school day.

Co-Curricular Clubs

Our school day extends well beyond the classroom through a varied programme of co-curricular clubs, generally running from 4.00–5.00pm. Our programme changes each term and includes a range of sporting, creative, educational and interest-led activities. Clubs provide opportunities for children to discover new interests, develop existing talents and build friendships with pupils beyond their own classes. Activities are delivered by our own teaching staff alongside specialist coaches and carefully selected external providers, giving children access to a broad and engaging range of experiences.

Homework Club

A daily Homework Club is available from 4.00–5.00pm for pupils in Prep (Years 3–6). This provides children with a supervised environment in which to complete homework and develop positive independent working habits before going home. There is no additional charge for Homework Club.

Afterschool Care

Afterschool Care is available each day until 5.30pm, providing a relaxed end to the school day for children who need to stay with us a little longer. Children can enjoy a range of child-led activities including arts and crafts, games and outdoor play, and a light meal is served during the session. Children attending a co-curricular club until 5.00pm can join Afterschool Care for the final half hour. Children can be collected at any point during the session, giving families flexibility at the end of the day.

Holiday Clubs

We are pleased to offer holiday provision at Crown House, helping families to access high-quality childcare in a familiar school environment beyond term time.

EYFS Holiday Club

During each of the main school holidays, Crown House provides one week of in-house holiday provision specifically for our EYFS children. Our EYFS Holiday Club is staffed by members of the Crown House team, giving our youngest children the reassurance of familiar adults and surroundings. Days are designed around age-appropriate play, creativity, exploration and outdoor activities, providing a nurturing and enjoyable holiday experience.

Active Day Camps at Crown House

Our wider holiday club provision is delivered on the Crown House site by Active Day Camps, an experienced external holiday club provider. Active Day Camps offer an extensive programme of activities during the school holidays, providing children with opportunities to be active, creative, make friends and have fun within the familiar surroundings of Crown House School.
