Parents and Carers as Partners for Learning

Parents and Carers as Partners for Learning

At Crown House we strongly believe parents and carers are children’s first and enduring educators and, when working in conjunction with educational practitioners, the positive impact on children’s development and learning is maximised.

Crown House welcomes and encourages parents to contribute to all aspects of their child’s learning and we will always do our best to ensure you are fully aware of what your child is learning at school to enable you to support and be included. We do this in a variety of ways:

  • Open Door Policy – regular, open communication with all members of staff.
  • Parents’ Evenings – an opportunity for clear communication about your child’s learning and updates on all assessment data.
  • Curriculum Leaflets – a subject-by-subject overview of planned learning across each term.
  • Weekly School Newsletters – an update on learning, activities and events in school each week.
  • Social Media Feeds – regular updates of your child’s learning as it happens.
  • Reading and Homework Records – an opportunity for you to update us on your child’s reading and homework progress.
  • Whole School Assemblies – see all pupils present and perform in our regular, themed events.
  • School Performances – a programme of year group performances throughout the year.
  • Music and Drama Showcases – termly pupil performance opportunities.
  • Invitation to share your knowledge – we welcome parents to come and share any knowledge, experience or special skills they may have on occasions such as cultural diversity week, subject weeks and special events.

The school’s values place high priority on enabling each member of the community to be happy and confident through co- operation and consideration. The house system and school councils are used effectively to effect change within the school community and to support the wider community.
