Pre Prep (Key Stage 1)

Children in KS1 delight in learning creatively through our vibrant and memorable curriculum. We have exciting new topics each term which are tailored to our pupils’ interests, enabling them to lead the way in their learning. The two-year topic cycle across Years One and Two currently includes ‘The Great Fire of London’, ‘Changes within Living Memory’, ‘Famous for More Than 5 Minutes’, ‘Oceans and Seas’, ‘Far and Near’ (a local study and Africa and geographical skills. Our dedicated staff teach these topics across the curriculum and recognise the importance of giving learning real-life context and making it fun!

Our children take part in daily discreet phonics sessions and develop confidence and fluency in reading, writing and maths.  Our ongoing assessment and focused teaching ensure that each child makes excellent progress.

In the Pre-Prep our pupils spend most of their day with their class teachers, however, they also thrive with specialist teachers in music, drama, French, swimming and PE. The girls and boys develop and refine these skills, gaining the confidence and resilience to excel in facing challenges and competitions as they mature.

In addition, there are many opportunities for our pupils to follow their interests in a variety of extra-curricular clubs.

Crown House has an excellent reputation for dedicated and passionate staff who nurture and inspire the pupils in our care, not only academically but socially and emotionally too. We pride ourselves on our close-knit community with a family feel, where high expectations, standards, hard work, ambition and fun mix together to provide an excellent education.

FROM OUR LATEST INSPECTION

British values are well promoted. Pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain because the school teaches pupils to respect diversity. The personal, social, health and economic programme ensures that pupils learn about democracy and the rule of law.
